On Monday, Sept. 25, Cardi B became the first female rapper to hit the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 without any other billed acts. This came after her debut hit “Bodak Yellow (Money Moves)” rose from No. 2 to No. 1, dethroning Taylor Swift who held the spot for three weeks with “Look What You Made Me Do”. This dropped Taylor Swift to the third spot on the chat.
The Bronx native is titled for ruling the chart without any features since Lauryn Hill’s 1998 classic “Doo Wop (That Thing)”. Cardi is also the first female soloist to top the Hot 100 with a debut track unaccompanied by another artist since Meghan Trainor with “All About That Bass” leading for eight weeks.
All charts will be updated on billboard.com this Tuesday, September 26.
Cardi B is only the fifth female rapper ever to lead the Hot 100 at all. “Bodak” sits at No. 2 on the Streaming Songs chart with 46.4 million U.S streams; it records up 85,000 percent to 56,000 downloads, marking the Hot 100’s top gain in download sales (aided by a 69% discount price in the iTunes Store). “Bodak” spends its fifth week at the No. 1 spot on the Rap Airplay chart and a second week on top R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay.
